what is being done?

Is the FCC doing anything about us not being able to read menus on the TV screen to record digitally? Does a talking remote control help the situation so at least you can delete a disk and re-record over the material originally on the rewritable disk?

I highly doubt that. The FCC has much bigger concerns, such as finding people who they deem vulgar and inappropriate and censoring them with no legitimate reason.

I understand you want to be able to record from the telly. I wouldn't mind being able to record from my TV. Why do you think this is a matter for the FCC to regulate? Surely it is up to the developers of this technology to create or invent more accessible products if they feel that there is a market for such products and that such products will have a positive economic impact on those who invent them.

All the technology that talks to us such as computers with speech and phones with speech doesn't speak because the government passed a law requiring it to speak. It speaks because somebody invented ways of making that happen.

True. I had to do this type of work-around stuff at work and not whine about anything. But I believe there are laws about accessibility for us but don't ask me about the technicality of the laws. I know at work they had to buy me talking equipment according to the ADA laws. But that was work not leisure stuff. I know ACB is griping a lot about the inacesssibility of TV. But I won't go there.
